Adulting: Step 143: Discern things that are worth spending money on, even if they are boring things
My best friend Sarah suggested this step, and she is so, so right:
Part of being an adult is not only learning when NOT to spend money, but when it really is worth spending it, i.e. to get your apartment cleaned when you are moving, to get your dog’s nails trimmed, to get a shirt you like tailored instead of botching it, etc. … The idea occurred to me the other day as I was paying for unexciting things I really didn’t want to pay for, but for which I am never not grateful.
So, question. What is something that you should spend money on?
I mentioned this at the end of my recent vlog. For me, getting my hair colored by a salon is hands-down the most I spend on something I could do myself but have more peace of mind handing over to someone else who won’t trash my bathroom and wreck my carpet.
I totally agree with this idea. There are things that are worth the expense simply because they provide peace of mind. Having our dogs professionally groomed is another one.
