Theme for 2013
So, 2013 is here, and I usually do a comprehensive post around this period detailing the previous year and my goals for the next or general hopes for the upcoming year, but this year, I just picked a theme:EXPLORATION.
2012 was a pretty low key year with a lot of positives and then toward the end of the year several struggles. I’ve closed out the year with some tough cases that have stirred up a lot, we lost our dog Mae at the end of the summer, and the last quarter of 2012 was a tough place for me emotionally.
It’s left me with a quiet entry into a new year with no real desire to put big expectations out into the universe. This year for me will be about exploration in a lot of ways that don’t come with rigid expectation. I will be starting off by reading The Artist’s Way and doing the 12 weeks of writing and creative exercises that go with that, and I’m excited to be doing it with a friend. I’m exploring a lot of new creative outlets, like DIY lipstick and complicated crochet patterns I thought were beyond me (not so!), and just generally dabbling here and there in new things in ways that I often do. Jim and I are literally going to go explore the Eastern Caribbean in June for our 5th wedding anniversary, and then hopefully explore the world of pregnancy and (eventually, maybe by 2014?) parenting. I’m also exploring, through therapy, my inner Self in ways that are helping me to grow and to heal and generally become an even stronger version of me.
So, exploring will be the theme. No expectations, maybe a few hopes, but ultimately no demands on myself other than to go exploring. We’ll see where that takes me.
Happy New Year, all.
